The first rule of comics is that anything goes. It doesn't matter what you write, all that matters is that someone reads it, even if it's you. This brings about the fundamental aspect of why people buy comics. They're worth the investment.

Humor[]

Humor is the easiest thing to affect in your comic. It just depends on what your goal is. Is it money? Is it humor for humor's sake? Is your comic supposed to be funny or serious?

These type of questions can lead to an all around better quality comic.

If your end goal is money, the next question to ask is how much effort you are willing to spend increasing the humor of your comic. Do you have a deadline? If so look here. If not continue reading.

Humor can be affected in any number of ways in a comic. Easiest way to do this is either making the art better or making the writing better.

For example, if you wanted to sell more comics, use humor. To do this, increase the amount of humor. Jokes are a good way. Sight gags are another. Both depend on either the writing or the art.

For the writing element, use longer sentences. Make each speech bubble bigger. The only factor for these is how many pages or panels you want.
